Alternative Media in the Cross Hairs of an Approaching Trump Regime… (A Ramble Mix on “Fake News” & “PropOrNot”)

A little echo of October 24, 2016’s “The Path To Total Dictatorship: America’s Shadow Government And Its Silent Coup“, by John Whitehead via The Rutherford Institute, h/t Zero Hedge: (excerpt, my emphasis):

Today the path to total dictatorship in the U.S. can be laid by strictly legal means, unseen and unheard by Congress, the President, or the people. Outwardly we have a Constitutional government. We have operating within our government and political system … a well-organized political-action group in this country, determined to destroy our Constitution and establish a one-party state…. The important point to remember about this group is not its ideology but its organization… It operates secretly, silently, continuously to transform our Government…. This group … is answerable neither to the President, the Congress, nor the courts. It is practically irremovable.”   — Senator William Jenner, 1954 speech

Unaffected by elections. Unaltered by populist movements. Beyond the reach of the law.  Say hello to America’s shadow government.  A corporatized, militarized, entrenched bureaucracy that is fully operational and staffed by unelected officials who are, in essence, running the country, this shadow government represents the hidden face of a government that has no respect for the freedom of its citizenry.

No matter which candidate wins the presidential election, this shadow government is here to stay. Indeed, as recent documents by the FBI reveal, this shadow government—also referred to as “The 7th Floor Group”—may well have played a part in who will win the White House this year.  […]”

I only get some 50,000 visitors per year nowadays(double for views, shown below – nothing in the big scheme of the media landscape, I reckon), so… it is more likely this little expression platform of mine wasn’t included in “The List” of alternative media outlets the establishment pressumably “has issues with” (shown at end of this blogpost), because I’m just “pretty much irrelevant“.  (Thank goodness… hehe)

allegedly apparent annual blog views as of Nov. 29, 2016

That aside, some individual bloggers, like Michael Krieger, who runs Liberty BlitzKrieg, and the also quite-often-quite-good Washington’s Blog, were included, however.  Some of these listed outlets get a boosted exposure through aggregator sites like “The Liberty Mill“, Jeff Rense’s overtly racist platform, and such, and through word of mouth because they’re posting interesting commentaries and insightful analysis.  I think we’re at a véry important juncture… and it’s not looking too good… and I don’t know how to proceed in a meaningful way, aside from a disorganized ramble like this.

The Trump victory keeps reminding me of this:

“… The naive public was overjoyed, but as the new masonic government initiated a huge wave of terror against the opposition, their smiles froze and were replaced by shocked grimaces …”

-> Excerpt from my Nov. 8 blogpost, “Talking Out of Turn… [In the Shadow of Hermis – MUST WATCH Documentary on Soviet History’s Ties to Masonic Scheming]“, which aside from starting out with a Solzhenitsyn quote, also directed attention to USSR parallels to today’s situation.  I suspect we’re heading in a direction that will result in nightmare scenarios for de facto dissidents.   I sense the Trump Regime might deliver a rather grim future…

Today, Nov. 29, 2016, Washington’s Blog ran a story by Charles Hugh Smith, “The Corporate Media’s Gulag of the Mind”  from which this excerpt:

One of the most remarkable ironies of The Washington Post’s recent evidence-free fabrication of purported “Russian propaganda” websites (including this site) is how closely it mimics the worst excesses of the USSR’s Stalinist era.

Those unfamiliar with the Stalinist era’s excesses will benefit from reading Solzhenitsyn’s three-volume masterpiece The Gulag Archipelago: 1918-1956, The Gulag Archipelago 2 and Gulag Archipelago 3.

One episode is especially relevant to the totalitarian tactics of The Washington Post’s evidence-free accusation. […]

[…] Your crime, as it were, need not be substantiated with evidence; the mere fact you publicly revealed your anti-Establishment thought convicted you.

This is the Corporate Media’s Gulag of the Mind. We’ll tell you what’s “true” and what is correct to think and believe. Any deviation from the party line is a threat and must be discredited, marginalized or suppressed.   […]”    Read in full at link above.

I think that that Washington Post article @ includes at least some partial truths.  There definitely ARE propaganda trolls, including pro-Russian ones that did play a role in influencing people’s choices.  And deliberately misleading news is not new.  We were all born into a world with heavily distorting news media.   What may be new is that it is no longer the monopoly of the US hegemony in the US.  But even that game could be part of a grander overarching deception…

My impression is that there is validity to various Russian perspectives, that when given equal consideration as NATO propaganda, they’re are often more convincing.  And thus it is not surprising that independent thinkers may end up with views that more closely resemble “Russian” views rather than “NATO/US/Western” views.

Then add the post-election initiative (NYT, Nov 14, 2016) that “Google and Facebook Take Aim at Fake News Sites“, and it looks like that right now, at the time that (that little that’s left of the) free press is the most important… (because it is most threatened) those with massive power over information flows… choose to marginalize views they will deem “fake” or “Russian Propaganda”… right as the last nail is being hammered into the coffin of the Republic…

That the corporations-steered mainstream media all across this sector of this beautiful neoliberalism/neofascism-infected solar system has been reduced to a pathetic network of deceptive propaganda-spewing outlets is no longer news.  Everyone who’s been paying just a little bit of attention no longer trusts the big names in the global mainstream media landscape.  They make war sound acceptable.  They opportunistically demonize opponents as part of wicked greedy geopolitical schemes.  They omit everything that doesn’t fit their grand opinion control agenda.  Nuclear power plants may be in full China Syndrome, or explode, or clandestine nuclear bomb tests may be occurring, if it doesn’t fit their narrative, it won’t even get a mention, regardless of how much evidence individual concerned global citizens gather.   People have made careers out of exposing corporate media lies.  And what’s truly shaping up in actual reality... remains a bit of a mystery…

It seems, from conversation, that for most people it’s just too much to sort through it all.  And thus scaling back to focusing on “one’s own experience”, one’s own little life, actually “makes sense”…  Can’t really blame people for “no longer caring” and opting for ‘apathy‘…  But it sure is a sad situation… :-/  And I think thát is a manufactured mind-state, actually…

Electric Box decoration, Leuven, Belgium, Sept. 2016 (tower of University Library in back)

Various so-called alternative outlets have proven to serve as ‘gatekeepers’ when the topic could be threatening to the status quo.  Democracy Now! showed that well in relation to 9/11 or Fukushima, for instance.  And much of the grassroots-seeming “resistance” quickly looks like ‘controlled opposition’ too… At least, that’s my impression.  It’s difficult to draw conclusions, as I’ve echoed various things found on all kinds of outlets myself.   Alex Jones’ InfoWars appears as a dubious leader on the “controlled opposition” end.   Yet controlled by whom?  It’s an extreme accusation/suspicion actually.  Is it just an appearance?  Or is ‘the controlled opposition‘ véry real?   Controlled by archetypal dynamics? (Thát’s an interesting vein to explore!)   Or controlled by clandestine operatives?  By mafia-like cartels?  Are ‘they’ making “useful idiots” out of most of us?   Is the ‘control’ steered by nation-states operating under various cloaks?  Or are “secret societies” behind much of the weirdness?

“Propaganda Or Not”, came up with one perspective.  Maybe that’s part of the puzzle, maybe just more distraction…  They got a sound board through the Washington Post, and it spread from there.

Comedian-commentator Samatha Bee produced this related watch-worthy exposé-attempt on Russian trolls.  It is worth checking out, because this IS a part of the new media reality.  (Anyone focused on nuclear issues knows this too: the scene is packed with trolls of every stripe.  Go to ENEnews’ comments if you want a taste of that…):

Anyhow… Blogs included on ‘the List” have already reported getting a bigger audience.  PropOrNot are pointing at Russia as the evil culprit.   But in their list of basically “suspected of serving as Russian propaganda outlets”, they included quite a few individual blogs too, run by people who are certainly not acting as Russian propaganda agents on purpose (or so I fathom)…  Anyhow, here’s that list:

The creepy list from PropOrNot

@ : (I made the ones I check myself every now and then bold dark blue, and red if I’ve come to consider them highly suspect of being part of some type of ‘controlled opposition’, which doesn’t mean I don’t check ’em, or that I’d vouch for ANY of the other ones, or that most should be in red, etc…:  As per my own disclaimer, I can’t even vouch for my own blog and sheepishly label it “for entertainment purposes only“…)

A lot of sources in there I had never heard of.  Might explore some of them as ‘suggestions’… ;-)

  1. The word “worship” itself is interesting to ponder. I’ve been thinking about it for years.

    • MVB says:

      Tx for that comment, PwMk4

      Made me swing by

Old English worðscip, wurðscip (Anglian), weorðscipe (West Saxon) “condition of being worthy, dignity, glory, distinction, honor, renown,” from weorð “worthy” (see worth) + -scipe (see -ship). Sense of “reverence paid to a supernatural or divine being” is first recorded c. 1300. The original sense is preserved in the title worshipful “honorable” (c. 1300).

To me “to worship” is more of a humbling thing. When I say “i worship Truth”, really what I’m saying is 1) I do not claim to know the truth, on principle; 2) I seek it / understanding; 3) the process is a humbling one, one that requires me to constantly admit I was wrong on one or another detail, nuance, or even completely. I suppose it is the latter stance that could make one “worthy” of at least approaching the truth more closely over time.

If this were a truth-oriented society (as pockets have existed here and there throughout history), then real ‘debate’ would be a search for the weaknesses and strengths in differing viewpoints in a common goal of reaching a more truthful understanding. Nowadays “debate” seems just like back-and-forth arguing for arguing’s sake, not for the truth’s sake.

What thoughts have you had about ‘worship’? Anything you’d want to share?

      • I thought it best to spare you a TL:DR reply with my thoughts about the world’s major ‘organized’ religions, ‘faith’, etc. but was thinking more along those lines. That wasn’t directed at your specific and quite appropriate use here.

I guess I was thinking about the recent series of questions I have been bombarded with by those delightful small humans known as children: “Why were we put on earth? What’s our purpose here?” If you take invisible men and unseen dimensions out of the picture, the question of “Why we’re here” becomes somewhat irrelevant. We are wired – in our DNA – to exist an survive and be happy by seeking the truth. But not as solitary beings. We are also wired to exist and survive and be happy in human societies by collectively seeking and understanding truth. That’s probably a thousands-of-generations quest, so we contribute what we can while we can. Expecting everyone’s enlightenment in our lifetime is unrealistic, but we get everyone down the road a few steps at a time while we are here. I’m satisfied with that ‘purpose’.

I suppose that sounds a lot like Mahayana Buddhism. While a lot of aspects of that religion fascinate me, I tend to distill it all down to ‘just be human’ – do what you’re wired to do as a human being, no magic required. Buddhism is one of the belief systems that helps people relearn what it is to be human, but I tend to see a lot of Buddhists take it to far and redefine humanity in Buddhist terms. It’s unnecessary (in my opinion). Buddhism – like most other belief systems – are not the destination. They are signposts pointing us back to our own true humanity. And that humanity, itself, is a multi-generational quest for the truth. Why? Because by divine intent or evolution or random selection (or a colossal cosmic joke), that is what we are. Nothing more, nothing less. My personal accomplishments in this lifetime are insignificant. I am doing exactly what I’m suppose to be doing here and now because I’m wired to survive and move humanity fractionally closer to the truth. I don’t have to try or struggle or believe or sacrifice or be miserable. Those are all signs that I’m being something I am not. If I’m a healthy human, then I’m doing what I’m wired to do.

Much of that philosophy wasn’t apparent to me until I understood what I was NOT suppose to do or be, otherwise know as ‘evil’. When you strip away all the religious baggage that people have attached to ‘evil’, the basic notion is that it is anti-survival. It’s the opposite of what we’re wired for and why we exist. Lobaczewski and ponerology revealed that to me (mostly because I’m rather dim and it took a while) but Buddhism or other religions/belief systems do that just fine for other people.

So [blah, blah, blah..], that’s my wordy agreement with you that truth should be worshiped and (conversely) lies and manipulation are to be despised.

Prof. Karlstrom’s warnings about religious syncretism are interesting. First, Lobaczewski and his collaborators suggest that to use religion as a control tool, you don’t need to define ‘God’. People have a hard time wrapping their heads around that (at least enough for you to manipulate them). Instead, you only need to define ‘the Devil’ or ‘evil’ – all the rest of the dogma in a control religion can be built on that. Which happens to be the same method fascists and psychopathic statists use. They are always focused much more on the imaginary enemies of their state rather then their state.
