Short documentary, worth watching:
- !-> Perhaps the best place to learn more about the Utes is at the Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum in Ignacio (not so far from Durango):
- Wikipedia has something on the language, Ute (aka ‘Colorado River Numic’);
- The visitor centers at Mesa Verde National Park, as well as the Great Sand Dunes National Park (which is practically my backyard, just south of Crestone) have various books on regional Native American history and culture as well.
Some photos from when I last past through the region in autumn 2014, including Mesa Verde National Park and part of Dinetah (Navajo Nation). More of my photos of this magnificent mountain region are sprinkled through my blog, such as in Colorado Road Trip (13 photos).
