Heavy rains… More snow higher up…

Crestone“… OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS… MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS AFTERNOON.  LOCATIONS ABOVE 10000 FEET WILL SEE AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.  SNOW WILL CAUSE SLICK AND HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ON HIGH MOUNTAIN PASSES. …” – From a NOAA May 19, 2015 “Hazardous Weather Outlook” statement.

And I thought I had moved to a high dessert…

Crestone, Colorado – May 19, 2015 – Rain showers and a couple rays of sun every now and then, thundering in the north as I write this…

After that record 16 inch May snow storm some 10 days ago, very briefly it was ‘like spring’ again, with the snow line quickly moving back up to between 9,000 ft and 10,000 ft.   There were two days I’d call LOVELY.  But then the rain returned…  in force…

  • By morning the snow levels would be back down to 8,500 ft…

  • A slight rainbow at sunset… (May 17)

  • May 18, 2015…  More heavy rains sweep across the region…

  • As thunderstorms roll in from the south and the west, like an overflowing cauldron, fog rolls over the northern Sangre de Cristo mountain range…

  • Snow levels begin to drop around sunset…

Intellicast_May18_2015_8pmAnd yet another night of more heavy rains ensues…

  • A glimpse of a thick snow pack higher up at 2pm this afternoon (Crestone, May 19, 2015):

Nothing to see here, move along…

Though not to be confused with ever-fluctuating ‘weather’, I have these two heretical posts on ever-fluctuating climate matters that could be of interest:

“There is, even today, a Flat Earth Society that meets every year to say the Earth is flat.  The science about climate change is very clear.  There really is no room for doubt at this point.”

  — Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman of the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

That flat earther ad hominem nonsense contrasts well with a statement signed by 49 Former NASA Scientists

I’m not sure, but I’d say there’s always at least a little bit of room for doubt…
