This is an addition to the (Jan. 8, 2015) blogpost, “FlightRadar24’s View of Eastern Ukraine Dec. 27, 2014 – Early Jan. 2015 (A Sampling of Tracked Flights)“.
Apparently the Zaporizhia area is a popular destination to go make a low sharp turn in, followed by going back up and eventually landing in Kiev after all…

- —> Sat. Jan. 10, after 8:00 UTC… A flight from Kosice, Slovakia on its way to Kiev…
… heads straight to Zaporizhia City, descents to lower elevation, drops off the tracker, -where to and why? – anyone’s guess- only to reappear shortly after, resuming its journey to Kiev.
Probably totally unrelated: Kosice, Slovakia is home to the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Slovak Academy of Science, a sub-nuclear research center.
- A couple hours later, another Ukrainian plane, this one coming from the Middle East somewhere (Egypt?) descends just north of ZNPP, flies over Zaporizhia City, makes a sharp turn, goes back up, to land in its destination Kiev, after all, as well:
Just thought I’d include these two before throwing in the towel on online plane spotting.
