Truckee, California – The Tourist Club (bar in the historic downtown) – July 30, 2012 – 6:47 pm Pacific Daylight Time – Red wine…
Got up very early to avoid driving in the desert heat.
- First image is of the “Dallas Canyon wildfire”, outside Delle, UT (on the backside of Deseret peak -ish, close to I-80). By lunch, when I checked before I posted it on Facebook for friends who live relatively nearby, it had grown to over 43,000 acres.
More info, see: http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3059/. Visible from the road near Delle, UT and beyond for the next half hour of driving. As of posting, as far as I know, no structures were threatened. It looked pretty as I drove by this very early morning:
- Just before entering Nevada on I-80 West, the Bonnevile Salt Flats, Utah, just minutes before sunrise (6:18 am):
For more photos of beautiful Nevada, see the previous blogpost, as well as my July 10 blogpost, “Glympses from the Road – Nevada“, when I passed through on a different route.
[ On a side-note, just 250 miles south of Interstate Highway 80 lies the Nevada Test Site, now also known as the “The Nevada National Security Site” or “N2S2“. The nuclear war against the Earth, 1944 – ?, set off an insane 1,021 nuclear detonations upon these sacred Western Shoshone and Southern Paiute (Nevada) lands. - This one’s from Verdi, NV – hehe:
