It’s less than an hour in the air between Salt Lake City and Denver. (The ‘AB’ (RTD Express) bus from Boulder to Denver takes longer.)
Too bad I didn’t have time to visit friends in the region. I was only passing through SLC, heading west, not anywhere near Kamas or Park City (Utah), where I lived until sometime in August last year. In fact, looking back, about a year ago, I was suffering that beautiful place’s frequent late spring snow… (May 17, 2011 example, here -ha.). So glad I left. As wonderful as its scenery is, and a warm and wonderful as some connections were, it would never feel like I even remotely belonged there. At least in Boulder the aching for “home” isn’t even on my mind.
Anyhow, I enjoyed the areal views over the Rockies, and below are some photos of one area I recognized when flying over:
There’s a webcam (The Oakley webcam), which looks in roughly the same direction from the ground, see “View looking SouthWest over Weber Canyon Road towards the Town of Oakley Utah” on http://oakleywebcam.com/netcam.html. Looks nice and green today.
