Senate Bill 1813 —> Noteworthy for its “and for other purposes”

Cowardly, like last time, I paid my taxes.   Interesting news is that this will allow me to leave the country when I so desire.

Say what?  Yes…   To all the far more courageous and honorable war tax- or other tax resisters out there:  heads up!:   Senate Bill 1813 passed the US Senate and will likely move through the House without changes as well.  If Obama vetoes it, then maybe I’m from the Pleiadian planet Lyra after all, and the Earth is flat.  (I’m not going to hold my breath.  Waiting for Obama, that is. ;-)   )

The legislation sounds so innocent, to “reauthorize Federal-aid highway and highway safety construction programs”, but its the “, and for other purposes.” that I’d like to inform you about.  Just one “little thing”…

Scroll down to Section III, and look at Section 40304:

Sec. 40301. Transfer from Leaking Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund to Highway Trust Fund.

Sec. 40302. Portion of Leaking Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund financing rate transferred to Highway Trust Fund.

Sec. 40303. Transfer of gas guzzler taxes to Highway Trust Fund.

Sec. 40304. Revocation or denial of passport in case of certain unpaid taxes.

So, in short: the IRS will have the power to keep you from traveling internationally if you don’t pay up.  I thought that was noteworthy.  Still think that barbed wire fence with machine guns is to “keep Mexicans out”?   hahaha.  Right…
