New Painting: ‘Crossing Over’

Boulder, Colorado, USA – April 4, 2012.  High-resolution color-correct images still need to be taken so I can turn it into a postcard, greeting card, posters, wrapped canvass reproductions, etc.  For now, here’s just this image of my latest painting:

Crossing Over

‘Crossing Over’ — acrylic on canvas, 30″ x 40″, © Michaël Van Broekhoven, 2012.

It’s acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 inches (76,2 x 101,6 centimeter).

Someone said it reminded them of “peyote art”.  I can see the resemblance, but it wasn’t even on my mind until that was pointed out to me.  The intention I held while working on it is for it to be healing for those battling major illness.  The theme of ‘crossing over’, as in the journey after this earthly life, arose  when the painting was about half done, perhaps influenced by the passing of three four dear ones in my circle of friends and extended family.
